ISO/IEC 17024
ISO/IEC 17024 is an international standard - “Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons” - published jointly by ISO and IEC. It sets requirements for impartiality, the competence of the certification body, exam development, and records and management systems, so that personnel-certification programs are consistent and credible worldwide.
What the standard is for
ISO/IEC 17024 gives certification bodies a common, internationally recognized benchmark for how to operate. When a body conforms to it, employers, regulators, and the public can trust that its credentials were awarded through a fair and rigorous process rather than an ad-hoc one.
What it focuses on
- Impartiality - separating certification decisions from training, consulting, or other conflicting interests.
- Competence of the certification body - qualified people and sound processes running the program.
- Exam development - valid, reliable assessments tied to a defined scheme.
- Records and management systems - documented procedures and retrievable evidence that the program runs as written.
How CredFlow helps
CredFlow is a credential lifecycle management platform built to help certification bodies operate their programs cleanly: documented, repeatable workflows; role-based access that supports decision independence; immutable audit logs with 7-year retention; public verification; and report/export tooling for management reviews and audits. CredFlow helps programs pursue and maintain conformity - it is software, and is not itself certified to ISO/IEC 17024.
